It’s been a crazy three years here in Frankfurt, Germany. Moving from across the big pond to work with Marcus on various 3D virtual content projects had taken a lot of our time and the magazine that was conceived in Second Life (SL) in 2007 ended up taking a back seat in the last quarter of 2009. However, 1st TOUCH Magazine has managed to find its way back into our Real Life and this time, we just had to listen.
The past years has seen a lot of changes and advancements in certain technologies and it’s become more clear that the name “1st TOUCH” has even more meaning than when it did, back when “Fim Fischer” (in SL) a.k.a. Marcus A. Link, thought of the name. “1st TOUCH” implied that you had to first touch the 3D virtual magazine in order to open it in-world (inside SL).
What with touch screens flooding the mobile mainstream market, reviving the online magazine again just made so much more sense. Especially when the site is optimized for viewing on mobile devices. The homepage reveals a graphically rich “accordion slider” that reveals 6 featured stories of the month, for starters. Once an accordion section is “touched” or tapped it opens up to reveal the full image. Once the full image is “touched”, the visitor is taken to the story. We kept the magazine layout as simple as possible so that it would look well on mobile touch screens.
We’ve decided to start off small. We know that starting a magazine is a huge under-taking but we also believe that we can do it. We can take 1st TOUCH Magazine to where we know it can go. Our big ideas will unfold as they unfold. We’re just really excited to be back working on what brought us together in the first place.
Exactly today, three years ago, we met for the first time. We wanted to launch (the new) 1st TOUCH Magazine on this day, to commemorate the occasion.
We hope you all join our journey!

P.S. The magazine can only be viewed online because we love our trees.
